It's still a very competent framing / crafting game. So much for world building, this game takes place in the mid west, 1800s USA. They use words like "y'all" and "hodwy partner" like the Howdy Doody show on repeat. Almost everyone talks in a southern drawl despite the fact that a regional accent for Sandrock appeared in Porta. The "western" setting also reduces everyone to a comic stereotype. But when someone with a maxed out relationship who you are dating tells you to go back to your own country and that we don't take kindly to strangers in these parts. it's not really noticeable that someone who should be super nice to you was only kinda nice. In Porta, Stardew, literally every other life sim where people are "mostly nice". For example, a plot event has a script that isn't dependent or updated based on relationships. But it was implemented by just having every character be an insufferable p**** that forgets you're close friends every time there is a scripted event. might have lead to something pretty fresh and interesting if done right. They made the decision that the town should be lees friendly and unwelcoming which. But so far the development has been a pretty bad example of second game syndrome, where a developer with a surprise hit doesn't understand why people liked it. It has all the Porta stuff, mechanics wise, and for the most part they are refined and enjoyable.
